Entry-Level Positions For Aspiring Senior Associates
Two entry-level routes into consulting exist: beginning with "big four auditing," like Hunter's path, potentially transitioning to advisory, or directly entering advisory consulting through undergraduate recruitment programs increasingly offered by firms. More firms are now, "trying to get their roots in the undergraduate type programs."

What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?
There are two routes that come to mind. One is similar to what I did: entering the big four auditing scene for a few years. I had the option to stay at KPMG and do a rotational program with the expectation of receiving a full-time offer to join their advisory consulting team.
Alternatively, I could have gone to another firm and pursued that path from the beginning. You can do this if you're interested in accounting consulting or advisory roles. Many big four firms recruit individuals directly into advisory from high-caliber accounting programs.
From an undergraduate perspective, you can enter this field without going through the audit world first. My previous firm also started an undergraduate program. More and more firms are trying to establish roots in undergraduate programs rather than hiring from competing firms.
