What Type Of Person Thrives In The Technology Industry According To A Chief Growth Officer At Switchboard

Heather, as Chief Growth Officer at Switchboard, suggests that diverse personality types thrive in the tech industry because it offers roles for both introverts "behind the scenes, coding" and extroverts "on the sales side" and that the industry's evolution is thanks to "everyone has different perspectives and strengths." Ultimately, Heather believes that success in the tech world depends on the specific role rather than a fixed profile.

Q8: Who thrives in industry?

How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry? Technology has changed so much, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's easy to box someone into who would thrive in technology.

Thinking about personality types, if you're an introvert, you probably thrive in tech. You can be behind the scenes, coding, developing, running analytics, building a platform, data science, AI, things like that.

But maybe you're also an extrovert or someone who wants to be in the front of things. Then you can be on the sales side, you can be a product manager or program manager. If you're more in leadership, you can own a product or platform.

Technology is one of the industries where all different personality types come together. That's how we've seen the enhancements and evolution of technology because everyone has different perspectives and strengths.

I wouldn't say there's one type of profile that fits into the tech world, but it definitely depends on the type of role you're going for.
