What are your main responsibilities within your role?

My day-to-day varies depending on which company and which hat I'm wearing. For the IT operations side, I'm keeping the lights on in the IT world. If there's an incident, an outage, or something happens, I'm responsible for that.

As a manager, I also manage the team behind that, which has many different aspects. I manage the frontliners, like the help desk admins, and the people doing the backend work, like networking and servers. I'm kind of playing that go-between role.

I make sure everyone's doing their work and check their SLAs to ensure tickets aren't dropped and people are responding in a timely manner. I also make sure the projects everyone's on are being done correctly and on time. Sometimes projects can grow legs and go in a direction that stakeholders don't want.

I'm also the middle person and fill in for them. If they are on vacation, out sick, or if something comes up, I can step into any one of their roles. I can do system administration, help people with their issues, or troubleshoot network or server issues.
