What do you enjoy most about your current role?
That's a good question. I think what I enjoy most and the reason I really chose consulting is the career path I wanted to pursue when I graduated undergrad. It's the ability to be involved in so many different types of projects.
When I think of different types of projects, I think of different industries and different phases. I primarily work on transaction consulting, so for merger and acquisition separations, things like that. You know, I can work on all points of a deal lifecycle.
So I could work on diligence, or I could work on the sign to close days before the deal is announced. I could work on post-sign, and you know, trying to get to Day One. Then I also could work on more of a transformation, like after the deals close.
I also could work on different types of functions within all of those roles. I could work on project management. So, the plethora of opportunities available in consulting on a very quick basis is something that's really attractive to me.
I think what I enjoy most about my role, as opposed to peers who went into different career paths from my graduating class, is that they might determine they like sales or they don't like sales, but then they would need to move within their company or to another role. I appreciate my ability to get a very surface-level understanding of different types of business offerings.
This allows me to check, "Yes, I like this," or oftentimes eliminate things, and I don't really want to do that again. But it was good to eliminate that from my list. So, I think that's my favorite part.
