Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Please include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
While attending undergrad at UC Irvine as a business economics major, I started to realize a student internship was something I should obtain. People joining the job search older than me needed some form of experience, even at entry-level positions.
The first internship I got was as an insurance intern at ING Financial Group. Then, I eventually became a marketing intern at Identity Management Group and also a business marketing intern for UC Irvine's Associated Students Group.
At the same time, I joined a Greek fraternity in which I built not only my network but also a diverse community of friendships that still positively affect my life today. My first job was as a store associate at In-N-Out, where I stayed until I graduated.
After graduating, I received my first professional job as a financial accounting clerk at United Auto Credit. From there, I started applying into government roles, and I eventually obtained an administrative assistant one position in 2016 at fiscal and budget services, a unit within the Treasurer and Tax Collector Department of LA County.
Slowly, I progressed through various roles, including administrative assistant two and three at two other county departments, Beaches and Harbors. Now, I'm at the Child Support Services Department. During that process, I actually got my master's at the University of Southern California (USC) in public administration. After obtaining that, I eventually started teaching within the program.
