What are your main responsibilities within your role?

When I was a senior sourcing analyst at NASCAR, my main responsibilities involved a few things. One was analyzing our spend data and looking for areas within the company where we could consolidate spending. This also included searching for potential new suppliers and finding better deals for our tracks.

Most of what we did, while corporate spent money, was focused on the money the track spent to put on events. Another part of my role was that the sourcing and procurement team was quite new at NASCAR, and having it integrated into the system was also new. NASCAR was implementing Workday’s procure-to-pay system.

So, part of my job was to learn about it, learn about the business, and how we could best integrate the two. For a long time, I suggested new ideas and ways to improve systems, and I was essentially the project manager for those system improvements.

The other parts of the role were very much support-based. I assisted tracks when they needed to talk to suppliers. I also helped a little with negotiations and with working the system when someone had an issue. It was a bit of everything, but it was basically to support our company and our tracks in getting what they needed for race day.
