So, why would you say your biggest challenge is being an analytics engineering manager?

This is probably unique to a lot of people in my role, and in many other positions as well. My biggest challenge at the moment is balancing individual contribution work with higher-level project planning.

There's a lot of higher-level thinking I need to be concerned with. I'm responsible for the people on my team, and I need to know they're working on XYZ and can deliver what we want them to.

But at the same time, because I don't have as many resources, or because I'm one of the people who can do certain tasks more effectively, I have to do a decent amount of the actual "individual contribution" work as well.

So, finding the time to carve out for both simultaneously is pretty difficult. Context switching depends on the person. I don't think anyone can do it that well, but it's particularly difficult in many industries these days. I think those are probably my biggest challenges at the moment.
