Transcript

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

About this role before I entered the industry, I would say, really try to get an understanding of what that role means within the specific industry you're targeting. This is because, at least when I was going down my journey, being a brand manager meant very different things for different industries.

It's not to say that my expectations were misaligned, but if I had known earlier that I wanted this role, I would have probably tried to cater my skillset more towards it. If I had better knowledge earlier on of what a brand manager in video games means, and how that role differs from a brand manager in tech or a brand manager in pure consumer products like food or beverages, it would have been helpful.

Just being able to find whatever information you can about what that particular role is in that particular industry will help you be more prepared.
