What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
I was really fortunate. I spent many years in this industry, but the industry evolved over the decades that I worked there. We started out selling landline phone service, and then we evolved to add internet, then cell phones.
Next, we evolved to add TV service and again to add fiber optic internet service. This afforded me the opportunity to change jobs and always be fresh. I had nine different jobs while I was at the company, so I didn't have an opportunity to get bored.
The company really did evolve with what was going on in the marketplace, and that's super advantageous. I know it's sort of unheard of for anybody to work anywhere for 40 years. I think just those unique circumstances, this is a company that really evolved and went with what was going on in the market. They were able to capitalize on that and profit, so that's something that I really appreciated about it.
