What entry-level positions are there in his field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
There are first-level, second-level, and director-level marketing positions. AT&T has a pretty robust recruitment program, going directly to colleges to recruit for various roles in the company.
When I was there, they had a program called the Leadership Development Program. They recruit college graduates, mostly MBAs, and rotate them through a series of positions.
They might manage a crew of technicians, then move to the call center, then to accounting, and then to marketing. This exposes them to a variety of positions and develops their leadership skills. This is definitely an opportunity for recent college graduates. I would recommend an MBA to participate in that.
