Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Please include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
My current job title is a public health investigator manager. My career path began at Cal State Northridge, where I earned a bachelor's degree in health science. I then pursued a master's degree in public administration.
During my undergraduate studies, I took health science classes and completed an internship with the health department. It was during this internship that I decided to change my major.
Initially, I went to college intending to become a midwife nurse. However, through my internship, I met individuals working in a role similar to my current position.
Their work was very interesting, and I became more invested in what they were doing. I conducted research and discovered that this new path was still within the health field, which I had always wanted to be a part of. My goal was always to work in health and help people, so it wasn't a drastic change.
Following that, I applied for another internship within the department and spent three weeks there. After that, I applied for a public health investigator trainee position. This role involves a year of training, followed by a test to advance to the next step. These were some of the key steps I took in my career.
