Biggest Challenges Faced by a Business Owner at Thin Leaf Press

Erik's biggest challenge is effectively delegating tasks to assistants, even though "they are totally capable," because it often seems faster to do things independently. The current goal is to transition from a state where the business runs smoothly in their absence to one where assistants are empowered to "put the foot on the gas pedal," requiring more management time upfront to improve delegation.

What is your biggest challenge in your role?

My biggest challenge is keeping my assistants busy on things that need to get done, rather than doing them myself without pausing to delegate. I have six very capable assistants, but delegation is something I need to improve.

Right now, the company runs even when I'm not at my desk. If I can use my assistants more effectively, it will be like putting my foot on the gas pedal.

This is an interesting transition. It takes more time to manage that process than to just do things myself. So, figuring out how to delegate better is my biggest focus.
