What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

My main responsibilities are recruiting candidates for Playground. Playground is a venture firm, and my Portcos are portfolio companies. Everyone calls them Portcos.

My company focuses on very early, technical investments. I'm interested in anyone with a background in biotech, semiconductors, or energy. I generally want to talk to them and see if they'd be a fit for our companies.

On the venture side, when I hire internally, I look for people with experience in energy and venture, or PhDs in deep tech and venture. I want to talk to them because once you reach a certain level of experience in venture and tech, many specific doors open for you.

So, most of my job is networking and making introductions for specific roles. I'm generally calling people, reaching out, talking to them, and then making introductions for our portfolio companies or having them interview internally.
