Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
I had a lot of jobs in college, ranging from a tour guide at UC Santa Barbara to different types of research assistants with professors. I also participated in a global UC food fellowship program, which was really interesting.
Additionally, I worked at an aquarium at UC Santa Barbara that helped teach kids about different things in the ocean. I also worked in downtown Goleta in a women-owned community-supported fishery, which connected fisherpeople to community members, similar to a local CSA food box.
All of those jobs helped me understand how to manage my time, communicate, and be organized. After I graduated, I was a ski instructor in Tahoe for a season, which was super fun.
Then I started to work in the plant-based meat industry at Impossible Foods, where I had many different jobs. I was there for almost seven years, and most recently I've worked at Charm Industrial as a director of operations. I'm happy to talk more about that, but that's the general arc of my career.
