What a Product Marketing Manager at Walmart Wishes They Had Known Before Entering the Tech Industry
Eileen, a Product Marketing Manager at Walmart, wished someone had emphasized the transferability of skills between roles, stating it's "not that hard to sometimes switch titles," and provided a clearer understanding of the dynamics within tech organizations, including "how should product managers work with PMMs, how should they work with designers?"

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?
I wish I had known that it's not that hard to switch titles, especially when you have transferable work and don't want to feel like you're starting something totally new. More often than not, work experience is transferable, so it's good to have more confidence in that.
I also wish there was a guide for understanding tech organizations, roles, and responsibilities. It would be helpful to know how product managers should collaborate with product marketing managers and designers. Essentially, I wish there was a map to understanding what an ideal organization looks like and the role each person plays within it.
