What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you started?
Within this role, I didn't know as much about the compensation industry as I thought, or at least I had a limited perspective. Different companies approach HR and compensation very differently.
It's good for my career to know how other companies approach it. I think it would have been less shocking, realizing things are done totally differently here. It's not a better or worse way, it's just different.
So, even within sub-sectors of industries, things can be done in a completely different way. This can leave you feeling like a deer in the headlights. You're forced to evolve and adapt to how a company does things in a specific way.
