How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
I guess I have several responses to that. One is that environmental lawyers tend to be people who believe it's important to follow environmental rules. They tend to believe this whether they are in favor of more development or not.
They do not cut corners. They see there is a way forward with the rules.
Another quality of environmental lawyers is they tend to enjoy working with engineers, scientists, and land use planners. They have a sense of comfort and interest in working with people in other professions. They tend to be collaborative and supportive.
I can't say those qualities are necessarily true of people in other areas of law, but within the environmental field, those tend to be true of almost all attorneys I know.
