What is your biggest challenge in your role?

Typically, I'd say juggling however many projects, departments, and initiatives are going on at any given moment. The other aspect is changes in the retail landscape. I don't think I've seen a quarter without a black swan event over the last four or five years.

It's different every time, and it kind of comes back to critical thinking and problem-solving. At one point you're dealing with tariffs, a couple of years later you're dealing with freight shortages, you're dealing with a global pandemic and supply shortages.

Probably the biggest challenge is juggling and adjusting to the changing retail landscape, which in recent years has been changing a lot more quickly than in past years. I've kind of watched some companies adjusting, and those that don't kind of go by the wayside.

It's a tumultuous time right now to be in retail. But I think those people that are able to adjust to the changing environment will make it through.
