"David, what do you enjoy most about being in the finance industry?"

I don't necessarily enjoy the finance industry. I know that I'm good at it.

The different companies and roles I've had have been very specialty-focused on specific industries, previously media and currently produce.

I think when you work in a finance company, especially one tied into the day-to-day operations and successes of the companies you work with, you get to learn about them on a really deep level. All the companies we work with, we know their operations intimately. We get to see behind the curtains—what works, what doesn't.

It's a really good way to understand and conceptualize what it takes to be successful as one of these companies. It helps you know what to look for when identifying the right ones and, perhaps, ones that have areas for improvement.
