As someone who identifies as a veteran, how has that impacted how you've navigated your career?
I take pride in the service I provided to this country and what it taught me over nine years. This includes lessons in leadership and operational execution that I've applied to my job at Amazon.
The military experience has allowed me to try new things I might have otherwise avoided due to discomfort or fear.
For instance, when asked to develop and launch a new program and build a team, it was a daunting initiative. I was working in marketing, an industry where I had no prior experience.
However, my past experiences in the military and my initial years at Amazon gave me the confidence that I could figure it out. Knowing I had that background, that experience, and that resourcefulness as a veteran allowed me to embrace new challenges in ways I normally wouldn't.
