How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
I think people who thrive in this industry often share common traits. Many successful line producers, including myself, have experience in the food service industry, perhaps as waitresses.
There's something about working in that fast-paced, thankless environment of dealing with people that really prepares you for a life in production. A significant part of the job involves similar challenges.
Many of us are very organized, perhaps a bit type A. While this helps in setting up a show, it's also important to grow beyond that and see the bigger picture.
Success in this field also involves a lot of networking and being social. Making connections with coworkers and not being afraid to put yourself out there are crucial for leveraging those relationships. These are traits I've observed in myself and in many of my close friends who are also line producers.
