What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

The biggest challenge in my current role is marrying the creative ambitions of a project with the realities of the time and money we have. That's the overall challenge.

What comes from that is managing the expectations of your creative team and the studios you're working with, along with managing complexity. So, when someone gives you a script with a million great ideas, and you can maybe execute two, you have to figure out how to represent those ideas.

The goal is to avoid saying "no" outright. Instead, you can say, "I can't quite do it this way, but what about this version instead?" I've found that's a much more effective way to have a conversation with creatives than just telling them no. It's a fun challenge for us in production to be part of the solution-making process.

Additionally, you have a lot of people who work and think in different ways. Keeping everyone on the same page means adapting your communication style for each person. For example, I need a bespoke way to talk to my director because he really needs to hear information in a certain way.

Conversely, I might have to be more direct in my communication with someone else, because otherwise they won't listen to me. I think those are some of the challenges that are pretty typical of my role currently.
