Favorite Parts of Being a Technical Marketing Manager at Edmund Optics

Cory, a Technical Marketing Manager, most enjoys "teaching people," ranging from satellite engineers to children—as evidenced by their current children's book, *Larry Laser Finds a Spark*. This passion for education, combined with involvement in projects improving lives ("a satellite that can get amazing images" or "a self-driving car"), makes the role fulfilling.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

What I enjoy most is teaching people. It's a general, overarching statement, but that's truly it.

This can range from teaching someone how to use the right tools to make a satellite that takes images from space. It also extends to kids. I'm actually writing a children's book now called "Larry Laser Finds a Spark."

The book is about explaining what lasers are used for. So it covers that whole spectrum, from technical applications to educating children. Teaching people in general is absolutely exhausting, though.

I've found a different method to teach that I enjoy more personally. I also like being involved in technical applications. For instance, being involved with a satellite that can capture amazing images or a self-driving car that improves safety is really cool.

It's about being involved in an industry that leads to great improvements for many people's lives. And then, simply teaching those people.
