What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
I am a partner in a law firm, and we focus on helping businesses throughout their life cycle. This includes startups and emerging growth companies, mostly those that are venture-backed or we think will be venture-backed.
We help them get formed, financed, and figure out how they'll protect what they're creating. We also help them commercialize their creations.
My role is primarily focused on the commercialization and protection aspects. I'm quite actively involved in the day-to-day work of young companies, as it relates to their product or service, market, and strategy.
We have many people who do this work, and I've been doing it a long time. So, much of my responsibility now involves not just helping companies, but also helping young lawyers improve their skills and manage their work.
On a day-to-day basis, I spend a lot of time talking to people, working on the computer, and training others. I also spend a lot of time editing marketing documents and talking with clients about their problems.
