What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?
I was heavily involved in the real estate program at USD. I served as the president of the Real Estate Society there for 18 months, covering my junior year and half of my senior year since I graduated early. This allowed me to become very involved in real estate and make many connections while still in college.
Many of the connections I made then are people I am still in contact with today. I was also part of the NAOP team for USD, which was a really cool experience. That was in 2019.
I was the only female on the USD team, which had six members total. We ended up winning that year, which was an incredible experience. I felt that with the support of the Brenda Moore Center, the Real Estate program, and industry professionals, everything just opened up for learning.
You're exposed to so many different things at once. For example, you work on a development project involving ground-up construction. This includes putting together plans, deciding on team members, and envisioning the final product.
So, everything from the development and design sides, including renderings, our plan, and the financials, was covered. I believe that experience was instrumental to my success at USD and in my subsequent career.
