What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

College graduates considering a career in advertising should look for titles with "coordinator" attached. When I first emailed my current workplace, I admitted I lacked large agency experience from my internship.

Stating I was open to any coordinator-level role reminded them of me when a position opened up. They then offered me an interview, and fortunately, it worked out. You may be at a lower level on the team, but that doesn't mean you're excluded from conversations.

It's an opportunity to learn and observe. As I've mentioned before, I've been able to work my way up within the same company. So, ensure that not only are you pursuing coordinator roles, but also that the company you join has a growth plan for you.

If they don't, use those first couple of years to understand the company's ways of working. Then, you can leverage that experience to find a different company with a title that aligns with your values and long-term growth aspirations.
