What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

The most important lesson I learned was probably not to give up on finding a job that's right for you. I really struggled after Covid having to get rid of my own business, the thing I had built up.

It was very hard to find a job afterward. I was very lucky to stumble into Charter, even though Charter was definitely not for me. It was rough being there, and I was at a point where I thought, "Man, if all jobs are like this, I'm not going to make it."

I was miserable and considered going to live in the woods. It was not fun or enjoyable. But I kind of switched up how I was looking for jobs and found something that fit me much better. It didn't take me nearly as long as I thought it would.

After you get your foot in the door and suffer for a little bit, it helps. I was lucky I only had to spend six months there. But six months to a year of being somewhere that provides really good resume material will go a long way.

Don't make the mistake I did of thinking you're going to skip internships. Even if you want to do something fun or silly, find some internships, find some stuff along the way because it will help tremendously. That first step was by far the hardest.
