What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant throughout your career?
Above all, you have to operate with integrity. If you make an agreement with someone, follow through on it. If you owe someone money, pay them back.
Even if you're in a situation where you can't pay them back, have a conversation about it and work out a strategy for paying them back. Your reputation is incredibly valuable and it sets the foundation for you to be able to do things.
If you have a good reputation, people trust in you, they believe in you, and they will support you as you try to do something crazy. It's very important to realize that companies aren't built on their own.
Especially worthwhile companies can create a good lifestyle for yourself. You can make money even if you operate without integrity. But in 2023, with how interconnected we are with the internet and social media, reputation comes first.
So, it's important to always operate with principle and integrity because if you operate without it, it's going to come back to bite you. You're certainly not going to build a good company that way. If you do operate with it, it creates more opportunities for you to be successful because people want to help you.
