What are some of your main responsibilities as CEO of Ivy Flip?
As a CEO, I believe you're responsible for setting the vision, getting the right people in the right seats, and ultimately getting out of their way. These are likely common leadership truisms you've heard before.
However, the difference between a startup CEO and a Fortune 500 CEO is that you still need to be very execution-focused. Our team is six people, including myself.
So, if something needs to get done, like the office needing to be cleaned, it's incumbent upon you as the startup CEO to ensure that job is completed. It might seem trivial or beneath you, but nothing is beneath your responsibility if it's necessary to move the business forward.
If you walk into an office in disarray and people can't focus, you are ultimately accountable and responsible for creating that environment. Today, my main focus is working with the team.
I spend about 60-70% of my energy ensuring they understand where we're headed and their contribution to getting there, as well as keeping them motivated. The rest of my time is spent dealing with administration, customers, investors, and then pure execution: how do we move the business forward?
