What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you started?
For my specific role, I wish someone had told me that with any kind of management role, there are many different aspects that go into being a good manager. Just because you might not have managed someone directly previously doesn't mean you don't have the skill set to go forward.
A lot of things can be learned. Generally, being a good teammate, being reliable, being a person others on your team can go to for support, and being proactive in your work can all help you gain experience. These qualities exemplify what makes a good manager.
You don't necessarily need to put yourself in a box. Don't avoid pursuing something like a manager position just because you don't have explicit prior management experience.
