How would you describe people who typically thrive in your industry?
People who thrive in this community are those who got into this career for the same reason: to help people. I'd say just about everyone here is thriving, as long as you're still enjoying helping others.
We are treated very well and have great community support. If you show up to work with a positive attitude, it's pretty hard to have a bad day.
We do run some difficult calls, but with ten of us here at the station, we all get each other through it. I truly feel like I can speak for everyone in our department when I say we are all thriving.
We're also living a great work-life balance. The schedule of four days on and four days off is phenomenal.
It's a trade-off, though. During fire season, we have to spend more days at the station to cover for those who leave for fires. But overall, it's a great work-life balance.
