Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
Yes, of course. I came to USDI in 2019 as an international student. I started my full-time MBA there almost immediately.
I founded a startup called Hugs, which stands for Housing Undergraduate and Graduate Students. It was essentially an Airbnb for student housing. I started it because a pitch competition was happening on campus.
I won that competition and then began developing the startup. I continued working on it throughout my time in school. Upon graduation, I did two things.
I got a job at a commercial real estate firm called CBRE. I had an internship there for the summer after I graduated, which turned into a full-time position. At the same time, I was raising money for my startup.
That summer, we raised about $150,000 to really get it off the ground. I've always had two jobs, pretty much. A year later, I quit CBRE to continue my startup full-time.
It then evolved into what I run now, a residential asset management company called Parkside Asset Management.
