What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Being a clear communicator, both verbally and in writing, is going to be extremely critical. You need a solid foundational background in math. It doesn't have to be super advanced, but you must understand math at a level slightly higher than basic.
There are many calculations involved in what we do to validate things and ensure we are on the right track. Perhaps most importantly, you need a love for engineering. You have to genuinely enjoy the aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering.
You should also be fascinated by the way buildings work. Otherwise, you're going to find what we do very boring.
