Main Responsibilities of a Philanthropy Officer at UNICEF USA

Bridget's primary responsibility as a UNICEF USA Philanthropy Officer is "raising funds" by cultivating relationships with 150 high-net-worth donors across the Western US, tailoring engagement methods ("face-to-face meetings, Zoom, phone calls, emails") to individual preferences while simultaneously advocating for children impacted by global crises like "the war in Ukraine, the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey," ensuring donor contributions effectively reach those "who need it most."

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

In my current role as a philanthropy officer, I work with a portfolio of 150 donors throughout Southern California, Arizona, and Hawaii. I connect with individuals who support UNICEF's work, helping them make the biggest difference and impact with their funds and resources.

I meet with donors face-to-face, often in one-on-one meetings. I also connect with people where they are comfortable, whether that's through Zoom calls, phone calls, or emails, as not everyone wants to meet in person. This involves engaging with some of our biggest supporters on the west side of the U.S.

My primary responsibility and goal is fundraising. I also ensure we are fulfilling the organization's mission: to deliver for UNICEF Global so they can help children around the world who need it most. This includes advocating for children in critical situations, such as those affected by the war in Ukraine or the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

It's important to stay updated on global events because people often ask how they can help in these moments. My role is to advocate for children who need support and connect people with resources for those causes.
