How would you describe people who typically thrive in the wine industry?
There are various roles in the wine business, and I'm probably a bit unique in that I'm doing a little bit of everything. If you're specializing on the production side, your palate and sensory skills in identifying flavors, textures, and acid levels are important.
Attention to detail and creativity certainly apply across all roles. I think the wine industry is largely about hospitality. You want to create an environment or experience for people tasting your wine and visiting your winery that leaves them with a sense of pleasure.
Those are the key skills that would help you thrive in the wine industry.
