What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

I'm still new to this role and this work. I think everyone approaches insurance slightly differently.

I was told before I entered the education industry, back when I was in college, that it's a long journey. The real challenge is giving our very best now to whomever we're working with, whether it's students or the organization.

It's also important to realize this is a long-term endeavor. I say that because I worked myself into the ground early on when I was a teacher. You can't sustain that in teaching, or in any career path, for the long term.

It's so important in this space that we have committed, dedicated people for the long term. I wish people had told me that. Yes, work hard, do what you're doing, and have some perspective. If you're going to be in this for the long haul, you need strategies to maintain perspective and not burn yourself out.

I'm just saying maintaining perspective and balancing the short and long term is crucial.
