What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

A key lesson I've learned is the importance of empathy. Early in my career, I had a great mentor who guided me through many mistakes. These weren't illegal, but they were definitely missteps.

When you're in conversations, meetings, or leading projects, it's crucial to understand others' perspectives. You don't have to agree with them, but you should strive to comprehend where they're coming from.

It's also vital to understand the impact you have on others through your actions. Sometimes, appearing too aggressive, which I admit I did, isn't the most effective way to build relationships or achieve goals.

Especially in education, a people-focused field, this skill is invaluable. Being able to see things from another's point of view, both to gauge your impact and to understand their motivations, is critical.

This is easier said than done, but I believe it's incredibly important.
