What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I've only been in my current role for about six to eight weeks, so I'm still learning. Having said that, there are a few buckets of work. One is supporting our internal development and fundraising work.

We are a small nonprofit, only 10 people, and we don't have a dedicated development or fundraising arm. So I support our executive director on preparing for meetings with foundations, putting together grant submissions and updates, and anything else our funders need. I also provide capacity for her, so she has more time to cultivate relationships with new potential funders.

Another piece of my work is general, cross-functional project management. Right now, I'm working on implementing a CRM system, similar to Salesforce. I've assembled a committee to review our options and select the best one for us. Ultimately, I'll lead the implementation. I anticipate taking on many more cross-functional projects like this.

Then there's general organizational effectiveness and hygiene. I help lead staff meetings and strategy step-backs, and I also support board meetings. I'm also working on supporting our team with project management best practices. We take on a lot of work as a network, and we're trying to improve how we manage and lead those projects. This includes both the technical aspects, like which project management tools we use, and the habits and practices of project management. I think those are the main buckets for me.
