What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
The great thing about it is being able to solve problems. I've always loved to solve puzzles, and to be able to solve a problem and help someone out. Once you see that you have provided the relief your client is seeking from something they thought was insurmountable, but you've solved it a dozen, dozens of times, that's the most gratifying thing.
On the other hand, I like about teaching law school the ability to have my students start the year as a blank slate, knowing nothing about it. Then, at the end of the year, they're telling me about how things work.
Being able to plant that seed and watch it grow throughout the term is terrific. I really like planting trees and being in nature. It's one of those things where I love to see things grow. To be able to bring both of those things together in my career has been one of the more satisfying things.
