A Day In The Life Of An Of Counsel At Best Best And Krieger LLP
Brandon, Of Counsel at Best Best & Krieger, LLP, says that there's really "hard to say that there is a typical day" for an attorney, but that a day can range from providing city attorney services to appearing in court (often via Zoom), or a significant amount of time can be spent "writing, revising, editing and, and reading" to prepare briefs or arguments. He notes that the shift to online court appearances has been a "blessing" for being able to accomplish more in a day.

What does a day in the life of an attorney look like?
What does a day in the life of an attorney look like? It's hard to say there's a typical day. Clients will call with emergencies, so it's difficult to anticipate them.
However, aside from the unforeseen, my day depends on whether I'm starting in a hearing or have a meeting where I'm providing city attorney services. Typically, my city attorney duties involve providing those services about once a month. I prepare for that throughout the day.
If I am appearing in court, it's great because court is now online. We are on Zoom, and I've become quite skilled at multitasking during these appearances. It used to be that for something like a case management conference, a 15-minute appearance where you tell the judge what's going on, you had to drive to the courthouse and wait your turn.
Now that we've moved away from that practice, I think being a modern attorney has been a blessing for my generation of lawyers. We're able to accomplish much more with our day.
I also spend a significant amount of time writing and reading. Law school teaches you to read quickly, and I continue to use those skills. I end up doing a lot of writing when I'm editing a brief.
For example, I'm preparing for a mediation next week and had to submit the mediation brief yesterday. I spent the last two days writing, revising, editing, and reading to ensure my client's argument was just right. That's the range of things I might do on any given day.
