Boston, taking you back to your time at Texas Tech University. What did you do during undergrad that set you up for success in your career?
The first two years are prerequisites for getting into engineering school. Getting through them is a great accomplishment.
But it's really important to pay attention in your junior and senior classes. Some of those are very applicable once you get into the field. This is especially true for Structural, Geotech, or Transportation.
You have to get a master's degree in those areas to become an engineer in that aspect. For me, in Land Development, surveying was probably the most helpful class. We deal with surveyors every day. Learning how they survey a site helped me understand their process.
