What do you enjoy most about being a risk consultant?
My work is quite dynamic and rarely repetitive, which I really like. I like to learn a lot, and I think I would get tired doing the same thing over and over again.
I am very grateful for the chance to jump around different projects and constantly be learning. It can be exhausting, but it's also gratifying. I really like the autonomy I have, even at this early stage in my career.
It feels like I'm constantly given puzzles to solve. I'm presented with issues and problems and given the tools to help, but ultimately, I decide how to address them. I like puzzles and solving problems, so it's nice not to have a micromanagement attitude.
There's support if you need it, but a lot of trust in your professional judgment and capabilities. While that can be scary at the beginning of your career, it's empowering to know you can do it. There's more than one right way to do something.
I also appreciate the flexibility of my career. Although it can be demanding, especially when working for larger firms, you learn to manage it. You can create your own balance of work and life, incorporating family activities or other situations.
It's not rigid; it's what you make of it. You can learn more, advance, or expand into other fields. That's my favorite thing – it's very multiple and very dynamic.
