Favorite Parts Of Working In The Pet Industry As A CEO And Co-Founder
Bill's favorite aspect of the pet industry, compared to previous roles in consulting and at Warby Parker, is its "positive space" and the "positive impact" it has; this passion stems from a lifelong love of animals and a desire for a positive work environment, unlike the "challenging" nature of earlier career stages.

Q7: Favorite parts - industry
What do you enjoy most about being in your industry? I'll define my industry as the pet industry. You could say startups or consumer goods or things like that, but I'll talk about the pet industry and then the optical industry where I was at Warby Parker.
As I was mentioning, my career path in consulting and bankruptcy restructuring was super interesting and challenging, but not something I felt really passionate about. Being at Warby Parker was something I could really relate to, and it had a great mission to help people see. I wear glasses, and I have contacts in right now, but it's a really positive impact on the world.
Then, moving into the pet industry, something I'm also passionate about. I've grown up with dogs and cats and have had many animal companions over time. It's a really positive space, and people love their pets and are extremely passionate about it.
It has a really positive impact both with consumers, and people in the industry are generally friendly, helpful, and collaborative. So, I always like to make sure that my macro environment is positive as well.
