What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?
When I was going to college, I was heavily focused on getting my degrees. I didn't want that to hold me back as I progressed in my career. I excelled when I got into business courses because that was really what I was interested in.
The MBA program at Long Beach State really took my educational experience to the next level. Part of that was around practical experience; we were looking at real-life challenges and strategic issues in industries. We'd evaluate them, and then, in many cases, figure out what actually transpired and whether what we thought was good or not.
There was a lot of value in the MBA program, particularly the practical and strategic components. The collaboration with people from different industries within my cohort also greatly helped me in my career.
