What A Marketing Associate At USD Knauss School Of Business Wishes They Had Known Before Entering The Marketing Industry

Antonio wishes someone had warned that success in marketing requires vulnerability and openness. One "can't expect [oneself] to block [oneself] off from the world" but instead must "embrace interpersonal connections" to create resonant content and learn from others, even though doing so can be initially scary, especially for introverted individuals.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

Something I wish I'd known before entering the industry is how vulnerable and open you have to be. You can't expect to block yourself off from the world and then create content that resonates with people.

You need to embrace your interpersonal connections and friendships. You really have to create connections and put yourself out there.

Although I'm a bit introverted and meeting people can be scary, doing this repeatedly has made me enjoy meeting new people. They are so interesting to talk to, and you learn so much from them.

I'm glad things happened the way they did and that I learned everything when I did. I want others to know that they just need to be aware of this and be vulnerable, because everything will be okay.
