Could you walk me through your career path? Please include your experiences in college, and any internships or jobs you had before your current role.

Sure. I'm currently working as a marketing associate for the University of San Diego. My trajectory to this position was a little unconventional.

I started off in community college, wanting to go to film school because I loved being visually creative. After graduating from CSU Long Beach with a BA in documentary production, I came back to San Diego and started working as a television broadcast director for a new studio in Oceanside.

At the same time, I was working full-time as a plumber, which was not creative at all. I felt like I needed some sort of escape, so I started crafting my freelance social media marketing business in the evenings, on the side, and on the weekends. I would cold-call people and pitch my services until I built my roster.

Everything I've learned in terms of social media marketing, I learned by doing. But there was so much to it that I realized I needed to go back to school. So, I decided to get my MBA with a concentration in marketing at the University of San Diego, and that's where I am now.
