What are your main responsibilities within your role?
In my current role as a health IT project manager, I focus on projects involving electronic medical records. My responsibilities include ensuring these projects stay on schedule, within budget, and within the defined scope of work.
My work primarily involves technology implementations that address regulatory or policy requirements, such as those needed for Medicare and Medicaid. I also focus on enhancing solutions that assist patients or providers in working within the EMR.
For example, one project I'm involved in ensures our systems accurately reflect staff and patients' chosen names and gender identities. This means reviewing all systems and ensuring the coding reflects this information.
This is just one example of my day-to-day tasks. I transitioned into technology from an operations background, which involved project management in clinical settings, like labs or hospital units. While that's a bit different, I am now working in technology.
