How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?

In the VC industry, the people who tend to do best are dynamic. By dynamic, I don't mean they have a dynamic sales personality where they're really easy to get along with.

Instead, dynamic means they have more facets to their personality than being a one-trick pony. You won't find someone who is just technically competent but can't have a conversation.

You're usually expected to be able to speak well and articulate your concepts and ideas pretty well. More important than that, though, are the other things those people are working on. When you start talking to them, you realize they have interests and a depth significantly beyond what you find in most other industries.
