Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
I majored in political science at UC Santa Barbara. I was drawn to it because I enjoyed writing essays, and the subject matter interested me.
After my sophomore year, I had an internship at a law office. I initially considered that path, but I didn't end up loving it.
Despite that, I stuck with my political science major. After college, some older friends who also majored in political science went into tech sales.
I decided to follow them and pursue tech sales myself. It seemed like a good option because a specific degree wasn't strictly required.
I started my career at a cybersecurity company right out of college. Then, I worked in sales for Uber Eats at Uber.
After that, I worked at two smaller startups. However, I eventually decided I wanted to shift my career away from tech and moved into advertising.
My current role is at Backyard Ventures, a network for content creators like podcasters, YouTube channels, and newsletters. We help them monetize their content by creating partnerships between them and various brands.
So, I've been in sales throughout my career, but I transitioned from tech to media and advertising.
