Favorite Parts of Being a Civil Design Engineer at Siegfried Engineering

Andrew's favorite aspect of the Civil Design Engineer role at Siegfried Engineering, Inc. is the increased autonomy gained over time, allowing them to "allocate time to different projects" and manage a coworker. The most rewarding part, however, remains "seeing something that you started from the very beginning and seeing it get built."

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

My current role has changed since I started. When I first began, I was mostly directed on what to do.

I wasn't really managing anything because I didn't know much then. Now, I have a bit more control over my own projects.

I get to allocate my time to different projects as I see fit, to ensure deadlines are met. My boss doesn't manage me as strictly anymore.

I also now manage another coworker, which has been a cool, new aspect of my role. At the same time, I still get to do a lot of design.

I get to see a project start from nothing, like an undeveloped piece of property, and evolve into a building with infrastructure over a couple of years. Seeing something you started from the very beginning get built over time is very rewarding and really cool.
